Hypnosis nowadays is a scientifically recognized and gentle, effective method to stimulate the self-healing powers of the body. It can be used in a supportive and very successful way as mental training, in psychotherapy, in the treatment of diseases and addictive behavior or in certain life circumstances.
The term hypnosis has its origin in Greek (hypnos = sleep) and describes the sleep-like state of relaxationthat one experiences under hypnosis. Since hypnosis is nowadays still often associated with magic tricks and show hypnoses, it may be emphasized at this point that hypnosis is a completely natural and accessible state of consciousness for all people. In fact, we regularly find ourselves in brief hypnotic states several times a day, without being aware of it, during all activities that function "with one's eyes closed", i.e. can simply be carried out on auto-mode without thinking much about it, such as driving a car or tying shoes.
During a hypnosis session this state of consciousness, in which the mind is particularly relaxed, is deliberately induced by the hypnotist in order to gain access to the subconscious. Our subconscious can be thought of as a huge storehouse of all previous lived conscious, unconscious, positive or negative events. This treasure of personal life experience influences how we perceive ourselves and the world and act in the latter.
Under hypnosis, the subconscious mind is receptive, while the judgmental part of the mind fades into the background. This state of consciousness allows information to be passed directly to the subconscious without being subjected to examination by the critical brain. In this way, the subconscious can be "reprogrammed" and unwanted content can be "rewritten" through specific positive formulations (suggestions) . For this reason, deep relaxation (trance) is excellent for initiating or accelerating positive change processes .
Hypnosis can be used in very versatile ways and contributes to sustainable, holistic health. Noticeable, positive changes can be achieved for a wide variety of symptoms.
